The T20 World Cup warm-up schedule was revealed by the ICC, featuring India facing off against Bangladesh, while the match between Australia and West Indies stands out as the main event.
India’s match against Bangladesh is set for June 1, and Australia will take on West Indies on May 30, according to the ICC’s announcement of warm-up games for the T20 World Cup 2024. The matches will run from May 27 to June 1 in the USA and two venues in Trinidad and Tobago. Fans can attend the West Indies versus Australia match at Queen’s Park Oval, Trinidad and Tobago
The 16 warm-up matches will be held at Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Grand Prairie, Texas; Broward County Stadium in Broward County, Florida; and Queen’s Park Oval and Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad and Tobago.
“The warm-up matches will be 20 overs per side and won’t count as official international T20 games. Each team can field all 15 players from their squad. Teams may have up to two warm-up matches, depending on when they arrive at the event.
The venue for the last warm-up match between India and Bangladesh, just before the main event starting on June 3, hasn’t been announced yet.
The different arrival times for teams have created an interesting situation before the World Cup. Australia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Ireland, and Afghanistan, among Test-playing nations, have two warm-up matches each. India and West Indies have one each. South Africa is having an intra-squad match, while Pakistan, England, and New Zealand won’t have any warm-up matches before the World Cup.
Pakistan and England will be involved in a four-match T20I seriesending on May 30.
