The Board of Control for Cricket in India has revealed the plan for the first fortnight of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. It’s all set to begin from March 22, 2024, and will run until April 7, 2024. This initial period will see a total of 21 matches happening across 10 different cities. Each team will play at least three matches and at most five during this time.
The 17th season will commence with a match between Chennai Super Kings, the defending champions and five-time winners, and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai on a Friday. The first weekend will be quite thrilling with two doubleheaders. On Saturday, the Punjab Kings will face off against the Delhi Capitals in the afternoon, followed by the Kolkata Knight Riders taking on the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the evening.
Moving on to Sunday afternoon, the action will shift to Jaipur, where the Rajasthan Royals, the home team, will compete against the Lucknow Super Giants. Sunday evening will be an exciting clash between the home team Gujarat Titans, the 2022 champions and finalists of the last season, and the five-time winners Mumbai Indians.
The Delhi Capitals have decided to play their first two home matches in Visakhapatnam. They’ll play against the Chennai Super Kings on Sunday, 31st March, and then against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the same venue on Wednesday, 3rd April.
