IPL 2024 Auction Set to Thrill with 333 Players in the Spotlight

Cricbuzzteam, IPL 2024 Auction, The list of players for the 2024 IPL Player Auction was revealed on December 11, featuring 333 players ready to be auctioned. Among them, 214 are Indian players, and 119 are from overseas, including two from associate countries. The highest reserve price, set at INR 2 Crore, includes 23 players, with three Indians: Harshal Patel, Shardul Thakur, and Umesh Yadav.

The remaining 20 players with the highest base price include international stars like Travis Head, Rilee Rossouw, Steve Smith, Pat Cummins, and others. Notably, the Australian skipper, who won the World Cup, returns to the IPL after missing the previous season. Another Australian, Mitchell Starc, is back in the auction after a considerable gap. Josh Hazlewood, expecting the birth of his child around the IPL, might miss the initial matches but is listed in the top price bracket.

Seven Australians, including Travis Head, and seven English cricketers, including Harry Brook, enter the auction with a base price of INR 2 Crore. Gerald Coetzee, one of the standout performers in the World Cup, is among the three South Africans in the top price bracket. New Zealand’s Lockie Ferguson, Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman, and Afghanistan’s Mujeeb Ur Rahman are the other notable names with the highest base price.

Moving to the second-highest base price category of INR 1.5 Crore, there are 13 overseas players, including Wanindu Hasaranga, Phillip Salt, and Mohammad Nabi. The INR 1 Crore bracket features 14 players, including Namibia’s David Wiese, while 11 players are listed in the INR 75 Lakh bracket. Paul van Mekeren from the Netherlands is the lone associate player with a base price of INR 20 Lakh.

Two impressive players from the World Cup, Rachin Ravindra of New Zealand and Azmatullah Omarzai from Afghanistan, are listed in the INR 50 Lakh bracket.

The IPL auction is scheduled for December 19 at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, starting at 2:30 PM IST. Teams have 77 slots to fill, with a maximum of 30 overseas slots. The total purse available for spending is INR 262.95 Crore. Kolkata Knight Riders lead with 12 slots to fill, while Gujarat Titans, who traded Hardik Pandya to Mumbai Indians in a cash deal, have the highest purse at INR 38.15 Crore.
